What is a Program Champion?
Skills for Hire Atlantic Program Champions are industry leaders that are interested in connecting and supporting program participants and recent graduates as they transition into a career within the data analytics or the cybersecurity space.
Becoming a Program Champion means having the opportunity to participate in virtual events, providing participants with sector-specific knowledge and advice, and allowing participants to develop meaningful connections with established professionals in their field of study. Program Champion Commitments | Benefits and Time
We are currently looking for Program Champions for Cohort 4 and 5.
Please note that this is the full list of Program Champion commitments and benefits. By signing up as a Program Champion, you have noted which industry events you would like to partake in. As a Program Champion, you will be updated on key program events and upcoming industry engagement opportunities for the duration of the 2024 calendar year.
We may reach out with similar industry engagement opportunities from our various programs at Digital Nova Scotia.
Participate In Industry Panels
Participate in a virtual panel discussion to provide our students with insights on topics such as AI and the Modern Tech Landscape, A Career in Data Analytics / Cybersecurity, or Hiring Trends in Tech
- Benefit: By participating in an industry panel, each panelist receives an honorarium of $200.
- Timeline: We will reach out to you if you are a good fit for one of our upcoming industry panels!
Attend Our Industry Expo
Are you hiring? Each cohort of SFHA ends with a virtual Industry Expo. This virtual job fair / networking event allows employers to connect with over 250 burgeoning tech professionals.
- Benefit: Free access to tech talent and promotion of your job opportunities.
- Timeline: Please before May 8, 2024 if you would like to attend the Industry Expo as an employer. Submit any details about upcoming job opportunities, and how many tables and team members will be attending on behalf of your organization.
Become A Mentor
Mentor a small group of SFHA graduates by sharing personalized tips and feedback. Groups meet twice over the course of two months: one initial meeting, and one follow-up.
- Benefit: Free Individual Digital Nova Scotia Membership for 1 year.
- Timeline: Please sign up to be a mentor for Cohort 4 graduates before May 22, 2024. Once you have been paired with your mentorship group, you will have until July 2024 to meet with your group twice. After the mentorship program concludes, we encourage you to stay connected with your group via Linkedin.
Attend Our In-Person Student Meet-Ups
Host an in-person workshop for SFHA students in any of the Atlantic provinces. This 2-hour workshop can be on any tech-related topic, such as “How to Switch Your Career to Tech”.
- Benefit: Networking with new tech talent / Sponsored event.
