our program
Skills for Hire Atlantic is a career-building program designed to upskill learners to become qualified and contribute to an innovative technology industry. A major program objective is to ensure that participants develop valuable skills and to gain a solid foundation that will allow them to gain the confidence to find meaningful job opportunities that will allow them to thrive and support the ICT sector across the four Atlantic provinces.
Over the course of three years, Skills For Hire Atlantic will train 1,500 participants (300 in year 1, 600 in year 2, and 600 in year 3). This program will train participants on in-demand, entry level positions to become active and qualified members of the Atlantic tech ecosystem, thereby working to fill the existing gaps in local talent. We will be offering training for two in-demand entry-level positions through two concurrent program streams (which are still TBD). This is a self-directed program that will be offered over the course of 24 weeks. We will also ensure that our additional program support systems, industry mentorship, and industry partnerships, enable students to have pathways toward meaningful employment.
It’s important to note that participants will be required to spend 5+ hours/week on course content, excluding any additional professional/career development sessions scheduled. The program will start in June, 2022!

am i eligible?
To be eligible for our programs you must be 18 years or older, and have completed a high school GED or equivalent. You must also be a resident of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
We are looking for people who have a strong interest in technology, and are ready to commit the time and effort required for this program.

the commitment
Our programs are 24 weeks in length and require you to complete up to 5 hours of course content on average per week.
You also have the option to attend regular 1-hour career support and live-demo sessions over zoom.
