About the Program

Digital Nova Scotia and Bluedrop ISM have partnered on an innovative program called Skills for Hire, designed to address unprecedented growth and demand for talent in the tech sector in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Adult Learning, Literacy and Essential Skills Program, this fully digital training program will contribute to the talent pool for entry-level ICT positions across the provinces.

Skills for Hire’s innovative virtual training is offered at no cost to residents across the Atlantic Provinces. Our two unique programs provide beginner-level training in web development and data analytics designed to teach participants the skills they need to start entry-level positions in the tech sector. The program also includes courses in career building, hands-on practice, a program slack channel, and industry connections to ensure student success during and after the program.

Digital Nova Scotia is the industry association representing the tech sector in Nova Scotia. Through skills development, capacity building, industry events, strong partnerships and the promotion of IT opportunities, they are supporting the tech sector as it continues to grow, evolve and thrive. DNS is a membership-driven organization, whose members include startups, small-to-medium enterprises, large multinational corporations, universities, colleges, government entities, and non-profits.

Bluedrop ISM is a Canadian software as a service (SaaS) company with nearly three decades of domestic and international experience in the area’s of health and safety certification management, workforce training, and virtual service delivery. Bluedrop’s flagship product, SkillsPass, is a training delivery and certification management platform, that delivers and validates skills and credentials across large multi-stakeholder environments, such as provinces or states. Accordingly, SkillsPass has been designed to exceed the highest government standards for individual privacy and data security. Presently the SkillsPass Platform has been adopted in 5 Canadian provinces and is trusted by over 2 million individual users.

The National Connector Program is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the birthplace of the initial Connector Program. This program provides communities with a turn-key solution that increases talent retention through the process of networking. Currently based in 35 communities and growing, the National Connector Program is a successful model to help retain talent, engage employers, and create a more welcoming community.
