About the Data Analytics Foundations Program

This is the foundational program within Skills for Hire Atlantic’s Data Analytics pathway. Over 8 weeks, you will build core skills in data literacy, business analytics, SQL, dashboards, and data storytelling through self-paced learning and live Teaching Assistant-supported sessions. Designed for individuals who are new to the field, including those from non-technical backgrounds, the program also includes career development workshops and industry awareness activities to help you explore pathways into data analytics.

What you will learn

Build a strong understanding of core data concepts, including how data is used to answer questions, support decisions, and generate insights in real-world contexts.

Learn the basics of SQL and how it is used to explore, organize, and analyze data in relational databases. You will begin working with data in structured ways to support simple analysis and reporting.

Develop an introduction to dashboards, key metrics, and visual communication so you can begin presenting data in clear and meaningful ways.

Explore how data supports business decision-making and how analysts use data to identify trends, measure performance, and answer practical business questions.

Certifications

This certificate validates foundational, high-level understanding of AWS Cloud, services, and terminology.

Program Benefits

This 8-week online program combines self-paced learning with mandatory live sessions, giving you the flexibility to learn on your own schedule while benefiting from support throughout the program. Program Eligibility

You must be 18 years or older and have completed a high school GED or equivalent. You must also be a resident of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island.
