About the Cybersecurity Program

In this fully virtual 20-week program you will learn cybersecurity fundamentals, the basics of cybersecurity and cloud computing, and python essentials. Working at your own pace and your own schedule, you will become versed in TCP and UDP have the option to complete certifications, all while building the skills necessary to find work in this exciting field. 

You will also have access to our job search and workplace productivity courses, which will help you to understand the tech sector, and learn the best practices to begin your career in tech. This program is a great fit for you if you love to learn online, are self-motivated, have a knack for math and technology, and can dedicate 10+ hours a week to the program.

To be eligible for our programs you must be 18 years or older and have completed a high school GED or equivalent. You must also be a resident of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island.

Networking Fundamentals

    are essential skills for cybersecurity professionals.
  •  Introduction to computer networks and OSI model
  •  TCP/IP networking protocols and addressing
  • IP addressing and subnetting
  •  Transport layer protocols TCP and UDP
  •  Routing protocols and protocols for network management
  •  Introduction to cryptography and encryption algorithms
  •  Cryptography protocols such as SSL/TLS and IPSec
  • Network security threats and countermeasures
  • Firewall and intrusion detection systems (IDS)
  • Network monitoring and traffic analysis
Security with Python

Python is a popular programming language used in cybersecurity due to its simplicity, readability,
and versatility. It can be used for tasks such as network analysis, penetration testing, vulnerability
scanning, and creating custom scripts for automating security tasks. Python has a vast collection
of libraries and frameworks that can be utilized by cybersecurity professionals to build powerful
tools for securing systems and networks.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals

Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) helps to build a solid foundation of cybersecurity domains and concepts needed to be successful in a cybersecurity role. The topics covered are:

  • Access Control Concepts

Cloud Computing

You’ll become an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner – This program includes the four key areas
covered by this certification including cloud concepts, security and compliance, technology, and billing and pricing. The information and resources learned here will be vital in preparing to take the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam.

Certifications You'll Be Prepared For

Cybersecurity Fundamentals (ISACA)

You will gain insights into the principles of data and technologies that frame and define
cybersecurity, its language and the integral role of cybersecurity professionals in protecting
enterprise data and infrastructure.

Certified in Cybersecurity (ISC -CC)

The new entry-level certification from world’s leading cybersecurity professional
organization.

AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Earning AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner validates cloud fluency and foundational AWS
knowledge.

Final Grade of 70% or more
3 Assignments (50%)
Technical Content Completed (30%)
